Have a go at this great sport, learning the fundamentals of kayaking while paddling over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
This Llangollen kayaking session will be based on Llangollen canal, after getting changed and sorting logistics your coach will introduce you to the essential skills needed in learning how to kayak. From here we will add a journey over the world Heritage Poncysyllte Aqueduct.
The session will be tailored to your needs and wants in a fun and safe way.
This is a great activity to fit into a busy few days in North Wales for families, groups of friends or individuals.
Our Kayaks are wastewater-specific sit-inside designs. This session would be a great starter session and may inspire you to come back and try our Discover Whitewater Kayaking session. This type of kayak is designed to turn easily and a challenge to learn how to go in a straight line. Your coach will be at hand to help you progress.
All safety and paddling equipment is included. In warmer weather, you may prefer to wear your own clothes rather than a wetsuit and cag, so please bring suitable clothing that can get wet and a change of clothes for afterwards.
Our general-purpose river kayaks are highly manoeuvrable and well suited to learning the fundamental skills of kayaking. If you are looking for a longer scenic kayak tour, this session gives you the chance to experience the Llangollen Canal and take on a Pontcysyllte Aqueduct kayak crossing.

Afternoon paddle boarding doing the Chirk aqueduct and the tunnel . Amazing experience. Andy was a Brilliant coach, funny and very patient . Only second time paddling boarding so not experienced but the tips we picked up helped massively. Even got 10 minutes at the end of the session where we all got wet. Would highly recommend.

See your booking confirmation for parking details. The meeting point is no more than a 5-minute walk away.
Equipment distribution & fitting, carrying kayaks to the waterside and a full safety briefing. There are public toilets at the meeting point but no changing rooms. In colder conditions, wetsuits can be worn and a box trailer is available for changing.
Based at Trevor Basin, you’ll learn how to handle and manoeuvre your kayak before starting the journey. Your qualified coach will be on hand to help you develop your skills.
Time to head out on a kayak tour along the Llangollen Canal. The journey can include crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, or you can head towards Llangollen if you would prefer to avoid the aqueduct.
All good things come to an end, but hopefully with a few great memories along the way. We’ll return to the starting point, collect the equipment and share any photos from the session before saying goodbye.
