Stand up paddleboarding across Thomas Telford’s sister aqueduct in North Wales.

This paddle boarding in North Wales experience includes a half-day canal tour across Chirk Aqueduct and through Chirk Tunnel.
An Adventure on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct’s sister, a great way to spend a half-day in Llangollen. Getting on the canal above Chirk Tunnel we will warm up and get used to our boards before travelling through the 400-meter tunnel with head torches on. After the tunnel, we paddle over Chirk aqueduct and continue along the canal before turning around and returning back over the aqueduct to get in point about 500 meters from where we get on.
This session can also be run as a full-day tour on request. Looking for something more challenging? Try our whitewater paddle boarding in Llangollen experience.
Excellent experience from start to finish. Andy was very helpful, from my initial inquiry, a couple of emails and a follow up phone call to confirm our requirements and make our booking. The 2 days were great fun, tiring, hard work but absolutely worth all the effort! We both learned so much and had a great time, a big Thank You to Jon and Andy.

Equipment distribution, getting changed, Carrying the boads down to the Canal and Saftey Brief. This activity is run on locaton. Alike many great adventures to make the most of time and location we get changed where we meet. Privicy can be achieved in the woods or in our Box trailer as there are no changing rooms on location.
Starting on the north side of Chirk Tunnel, we’ll head along the canal while you get used to the board and learn the fundamentals of stand up paddleboarding. If you already have experience, your instructor can help you improve your technique.
Once comfortable, we’ll turn towards Chirk Tunnel and Chirk Aqueduct. After travelling through the tunnel, we’ll paddle across the aqueduct and continue along the canal before turning around and crossing the aqueduct again.
This last 20-30 mins of the session returns the boards back to the road and usually involves a 400 meter walk back to your car or to the train station. We will work together and also share any photos we have taken with you.
